About Us

Simon has over 35 years’ experience in the food industry. After working as a butcher and training as a Meat Inspector, he earned a BSc (Hons) in Industrial Food Technology, with a dissertation on thermal heat transfer in swept surface heat exchangers. 

Since graduating in 1996, Simon has worked with various companies from large multinationals to small start-ups, in roles covering production and technical management of chilled ready meals, frozen foods, bakery products, thermally processed and aseptic products.

Throughout his career Simon has accumulated numerous industrial qualifications, collaborated with academia and was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology in 2005. His diverse experience led him to run The Food Enterprise Hub, a UK Government-funded non-profit consultancy supporting entrepreneurs in the South East of England. During this time he also served as a Director with the South East Food Groups Partnership.

Whilst Hub Director, Simon mentored Paul Lindley, founder of Ella's Kitchen, supporting its growth from an idea to a thriving business. He joined the Ella's Kitchen team in 2009, helping it achieve an £80m turnover and a 40% share of the UK baby food market. Simon specialised in thermally processed wet baby food products, was the company’s processing expert and managed technical aspects of major business projects, including the design of a £30m processing facility.

In 2020, Simon left Ella's Kitchen to establish his own consultancy business, leveraging his extensive industry expertise.
